Groups in Classroom Monitor

SLT users can view overview data for the school and for individual year groups in PROGRESS, but to add assessment information, a pupil group always needs to be selected.  Some key information about groups in Classroom Monitor:

  • One pupil can belong to many different groups.

  • One user can have access to multiple groups.

  • Multiple users can have access to the same group.

You can view the groups that are accessible in your user account by going to SETTINGS > SCHOOL CONFIGURATION > Group Management.

MIS linked groups

When Classroom Monitor is set up for a school, some pupil groups (e.g. classes) will be created and assigned to applicable user accounts. In most schools, this is done automatically via synchronisation with your school MIS. When pupils join or leave these groups, users will not need to update these groups as updates in the MIS will automatically update the groups in Classroom Monitor.

In Group Management, MIS linked groups will be identified in the Source column.

Users with admin permissions can control user access to groups. If you have incorrect groups, or groups missing in your account, you should speak to an admin user in your school.

Creating additional groups

Users can create additional groups for their own purposes and, as an SLT user, you may way to set up pupil groups for other teachers to use. This may include creating in-class groups or intervention groups for ease of making assessments and tracking.

Follow the steps below:
